Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: The Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) of the African Union held a briefing on the demographic dividend theme for 2017 under the chairpersonship of Guinea. The Guinean Ambassador, H.E. Madame Sidibe Fatoumata Kaba, called for this meeting given the strategic importance of 2017’stheme and the need to ensure all countries are well engaged at national level on the key actions needed to move them towards this goal. In this regard, the meeting was used to appraise ambassadors on some of the key actions expected of all countries including launching the theme at country level, conducting demographic dividend profiles and country-specific roadmaps among others.
The Commissioner of AUC’s Department for Human Resources, Science and Technology (HRST), H. E. Dr.Martial de Paul Ikounga also participated in the briefing of the ambassadors and made a presentation of the AU Demographic Dividend Roadmap and ongoing progress.
