The Maputo Plan of Action (MPoA) for the Operationalization of the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Continental Policy Framework is a result of over 10 years policy action to ensure universal access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services in Africa. In 2005, African Ministers of Health approved the continental policy framework on SRHR. This was subsequently approved at the January 2006 African Union Heads of States Summit. The first MPoA (2007 - 2015) expired in 2015 and was succeeded by the 2016 - 2030 MPoA.
