The 2024 State of the World Population Report was launched in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 6 June. This was a joint launch by the UNFPA Representation Office to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the UNFPA Country Office, under the auspices of the African Union Commission and the government of Ethiopia.  Approximately 100 high-level participants attended the event. These included representatives from various bilateral and multilateral partners, Embassies accredited to both Ethiopia and the African Union, United Nations agencies, International Non-Governmental Organizations, young people and Civil Society Groups.
